"Get Your Pet is the online pet adoption community where people who want to adopt a pet connect with people who need to rehome a dog or cat. The inspiration for GetYourPet.com comes from our deep love of pets and the desire to have them adopted from one good home to another without having to face the stress and risk of euthanasia in animal shelters. Pet owners relinquish 2.1 million cats and dogs to shelters every year. We’re giving those Guardians a new option... direct access to potential Adopters. We built the first version of GetYourPet.com over the course of 12 months with 3-4 "full stack" .NET developers, a graphics designer / front-end developer, and 1 QA resource. We used Visual Studio as our IDE, and VisualStudio.com for dev ops (now Azure Dev Ops) and test case management and execution. We had a pretty straightforward time building and deploying GetYourPet.com. We faced few technical challenges. We started building with .NET Core "beta8", and our initial launch was on RC1, a risk, but it was super stable. So far Get Your Pet has done 3,825 pet adoptions in just over a year of operating in the United States. We’re very proud to have provided new homes for these pets, companionship for their new owners, and extra space in shelters to handle the pets that enter for reasons other than owner surrender. On the technical front, we’re proud of our uptime. Other than 5 to 10 second outages during deployments, we’ve always been up-and-running. It’s very cool that even though we have hundreds of thousands of users a month, we can operate our infrastructure with a single web server and a single database server... and they're always at 2% to 3% CPU utilization. The performance of ASP .NET Core and EF Core is amazing! Next up: we’re working hard on delivering more features to users and to improve our organic SEO. We need to be discovered to do the good work that we do. By sometime in 2019 we hope to be operating in Canada, and sometime after that, Australia."

Hello, I'm Corstiaan. I'm a software developer from the Netherlands and I manage BuiltWithDot.Net. I created this site as a place where developers working with .net technology can showcase their projects and inspire other developers.
There's so much you can build with .net these days that I thought it would be nice to have a corner of the web dedicated to the breadth of .net. Enjoy!
